EPSRC National Service for Computational Chemistry Software
Sarah Wilsey
The NSCCS provides access to computational chemistry software, computing resources, specialist consultation and software training to support UK academics working across all areas of chemistry. It currently supports over 20 software packages including electronic structure theory, materials science and biological chemistry programs. Users can apply for up to 16000 hours of computing time per annum in the way of hardware resources. The Service is pleased to announce that in addition to the existing AlphaServer (Columbus), it has recently acquired an additional 22 dual-processor AMD Opteron boxes which are now available for use. Specialist scientific consultation and one-to-one training sessions on selected packages are provided for non-specialists, which can be tailor-made to an individual'Rs needs. The NSCCS also runs several software workshops a year for all users and potential users of the service. The next workshop will be held on the software package Molpro, on the 5th-6th April 2005 at Imperial College London.
